My Holiday Reading List

First of all, I want to send huge congratulations out to LSUS’s graduating seniors! Party hearty tonight, my lovelies. You deserve it!

Secondly, I’d like to share with you a few things that have happened on the interwebz while I’ve been furiously writing. I found this blog post, in which one of my favorite writers, C. E. Murphy, admits to enjoying Tempest Rising. Maybe she’d been drinking? 😉

I’ve also done a blog post over at Orbit Books, about how much all my fans mean to me. Please check it out and give yourselves a pat on the back. The lovely Jaye Wells has also done a fantastic spoof of the 12 Days of Christmas, which had me laughing out loud.

Finally, I’ll tell you about my Christmas plans. Over the holiday, I have to finish my third book. But once that is in, I am going to have some epic reading/relaxation time. Here’s my Holiday Book List, in no particular order:

Cherie Priest’s Boneshaker

Kelly Meding’s Three Days To Dead

Mark Henry’s Road Trip of the Living Dead

Neil Gaiman’s American Gods

And, for our January Book Club pick, Caleb Carr’s The Alienist

I also plan on seeing Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, and Ninja Assassin. That, plus some drinking, will be my vacay.

What are y’all planning to do for your holiday?

  1. I'm going to see Did You Hear About the Morgans, It's complicated, Sherlock Holmes and Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel. (Don't hate you know you want to see it too!) There is only one book that I need to read by like last month that will be read within the next week or so and it is Soulless by Gail Carriger. It has been pushed aside for awhile while I finished with my classes, but not anymore. I may also secretly be wishing it was late January so that I can drink legally…

  2. On book three…. wow. I can't wait for book 2! LOL

You have great books on your reading list. I have two of them on my list currently, and hoping to get time to read a couple of the others.

Hope you have a great holiday and enjoy your reading time.

  3. Movies: Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, Chipmunks the Squeakquel (I have a 6 year old), might be a few others out there but those are just about for sure.

Books to be read…depends on my mood. I am in full cozy mystery mode as the holidays can get hectic. I do have SILENT NIGHT, HAUNTED NIGHT – Terri Garey on the nightstand, so that might get started tonight.

Currently watching My Name is Bruce on ScyFy channel and drinking some highly potent egg nog made with organic nog and not so organic Makers Mark. YUM!

  4. I am going to be SO good and not grill you about Book 3, because I'm calm and cool like that:) I hope your Christmas is relaxing, full of yummy food and gifts too.

I have so much fricking stuff to read. Seriously. But I can't act too put upon because I love everything I have read. We aren't going to relatives houses til the day after and the weekend after Cmas so it's just my hubs, me, Angry Teen, Pseudo Emo Teen and Fairy Kid together til then. My husband is an RN and charge nurse in an inner city and has to work most of those days, but he might get out early. We still have fun, so it's fine.

I'm writing too, and just had an epiphany about my main character which is really helping me alot. It was actually because of something Dakota Cassidy said to me. *snicker*

  5. I hope you have a wonderful holiday !

I am mid Three Days to Dead as I type and I just bought the Alienist off evilbay, great minds? I just finished Soulless, I ADORED it. It went immediately to my top 3 debut novels of the year list 😀 I'm sure Alexia won't mind that Jane is #1 on said list.

I have been told about CE Murphy before, which series do you recommend I try first? My TBR pile is towering already, what's a few more?

Again, have a safe & happy xmas & merry new year Ms Peeler – and thankyou for Jane.

    cheers

    Deb

  6. Avatar and Sherlock Holmes are definitely on the movie list. I just started Happy Hour of the Living Dead, but I doubt I'll get a chance to read over Christmas. My holiday is a worldwind tour of family, friends, and food…lots of food!!!

    Merry Christmas Nicole!!!

  7. I will be sitting in the sun in Singapore with my fellow expats trying hard not to think of the fact that there is oodles of snow at home.

Hamish went to see Avatar and send ("don't bother").

    Have a great Christmas Niki!!

    Hxx

  8. Amber: Enjoy Soulless! I adored it! And happy birthday in advance. Very exciting!

Melissa: You have a great holiday as well! And book 2 is already in the "final pass" stage . . . meaning it's being type set. Or something. LOL I don't really know what's happening, ever. But yes, July 1 will be here shortly!

Vickie B: You had me at Maker's Mark! 😉 Have a fabulous holiday.

Moonsanity: Dakota is full of wisdom. And she has lovely hair. 😉 Glad to hear your writing is going well and have a great hoilday!

Deb: I loved Soulless, as well! And Jane says thanks. 😉 As for Ms. Murphy, who I've now discovered is also VERY nice, I'd start with Urban Shaman! Loved it!

Have a great Xmas, Heather! And my holiday will be full of fondue, thanks to you. 😉 Say hi to Iris for me.

Hannah!!! How delightful to hear from you! and congrats on getting hitched, that's fabulous! I heard about the snow, that's crazy! My ex emailed to say there was a foot in Edinburgh. Hope your parents are coping. I send you loads of love, drop me an email and let me know how you're finding Singapore!
