My Latest Obsession . . .

. . . Is Florence + the Machine.

You may have heard this song on AltNation. It is very controversial, as it’s about two lovers kicking the crap out of one another. I love it because it tells a dark, dangerous story about violence and lust. And it has an awesome beat.

This is the song off their album, Lung, that really gets to me, however. A few people have asked me what book three of the Jane True series is about. I’ll be writing a blurb for that book shortly, to put on the website. But until then, the closest thing I can think of to a blurb for Tempest’s Legacy is this song:

Florence + the Machine – Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) from sinner on Vimeo.

I adore it . . . and it is totally helping me keep “what’s at stake” in focus for book 3.

I hope you enjoy Florence + the Machine as much as I do.

New Review!

This just in: SciFiChick likes Tempest Rising!

You can read the whole review, here.

Thanks!

Ask and ye shall receive!

Ya’ll have been asking to see a little of Tempest Rising.

Ya’ll have been patient.

And now the wait is over.

You can find the first chapter of my debut novel, here.

Let me know if you want to buy the rest come November first. :-)

And The Winner IS . . . . .

The CONTEST CAN HAS SPOKEN!

And the winner is . . . . . . . . . (drumroll, please)

Ms. Catie James!!!!

This is good news, as Ms. James says she’s DYING to read Tempest Rising! And I wouldn’t want such a death on my conscience! Catie, if you could email me your snailmail addie to iheartselkies at gmail daht com, that’d be fabulous!

To everyone who entered: THANK YOU. Seriously, your interest in the book has warmed the cockles of my heart. I was also SO pleased to see all of the wonderful comments about the cover. I, too, think it is absolutely gorgeous. So much so, in fact, that I had the beautiful print of TR that Sharon Tancredi sent me framed, and it’s hanging over my bed. The cover means so much both to me and Ms. Tancredi, and, after the asinine cover kerfuffle that will not be spoken of amongst more discerning minds, I know Sharon and I are both very pleased that so many broadminded, engaged readers get just how cool is this cover, really. :-)

So thank you SO MUCH. I’m sorry that all of you can’t win, but I do hope you enjoy the novel when it comes out and I hope you’ll keep coming back to my site for more updates and for more contests. Next up, I’m planning a contest with Ms. Gail Carriger, author of the FABULOUS book Soulless, in which we’re going to let our character’s Alexia and Jane sit down to tea, have a wee chat, and give away a copy of Soulless!

So thank you, again, SO MUCH. I genuinely never expected such a huge response to this contest, and I certainly didn’t expect to read such lovely things. You’ve all made me MUCH less nervous about the actual launch of the book. Although I am still a bit nauseous. But now, because of all of you, I only feel faintly squiffy instead of downright sick. Score!

Thank you!

The Fruits of my Labor!

And I didn’t even need an epidural!

My beautiful, wonderful, most exalted Editrix just surprised me with THE REAL COPY OF TEMPEST RISING!

(Please ignore my sweaty, red face. I’d just returned from walkies.)

Here’s the bouncy baby book!

It looks even better than the ARC. The colors are deeper, more subtle, and yet somehow give Sharon’s GORGEOUS picture more depth. There’s also no “ARC” stamp on the front, so it’s just loveliness!

Next up is a TEASER picture . . . for greeting the reader first thing is a black and white version of the cover of . . . TRACKING THE TEMPEST!

I know ya’ll can’t really see that. Cause I’m a tease! Woot!

Finally, the other big change in the real version is they took out the celtic tree of life that we had as our chapter header, and put in the vampire heart from the cover. I love a celtic tree of life, don’t get me wrong, but the vampire heart is Sharon’s unique and perfect contribution to this series! Plus I want to have it tattooed on my body, I love it so much.

And yeah, I look kinda gerbil-ey behind there. Not sure why.  Moving along . . .

Finally, there’s a tiny, awesome, punchy scene from Tracking to cap everything off. EXCITEMENT!

I can’t wait to see my baby, times thousands, all over America! Yay!!!
